u3a St. Heliers
U3A St Heliers is a vibrant and interactive group of people who enjoy sharing ideas, increasing our knowledge, and contributing through participation in study/interest groups.
About u3a.
The University of the Third Age (Université du Troisième Âge) originated in France in the early 1970s. The name refers to the concept of the First Age, childhood and education, followed by the Second Age, career and family development and involvement, and the Third Age, when the demands of the Second no longer define one’s life and the person is enabled to pursue freely chosen interests. The first u3a in NZ was formed in Remuera in 1989.
U3A NZ is a national wide network of learning groups aimed at encouraging older people to share their knowledge, skills and interests in a friendly environment. There are no exams and no homework, just regular study groups that encourage member participation and contribution, It is learning for fun, not with the aim of gaining qualification.

Monthly meetings

Newsletters
Our monthly emailed newsletter is the main communication to u3a Takapuna members. For those who are not connected to email we produce a printed and posted email version.
Our Structure.
u3a St Heliers is an incorporated society, and our officers are elected at our AGM. These officers and other committee members are elected at the AGM.
